Bestselling author Kathy Lette has teamed up with charity Plan UK to support its #JustATampon campaign, which asks the public to take selfies with tampons to provoke discussion about a lack of menstrual hygiene provision around the world, which leads to girls dropping out of school and suffering discrimination.

Lette said 'Why is it acceptable that a girl risks being bullied or missing school just for having her period? Tampons are freedom with strings attached. The most obvious thing about a tampon is that it isn't. What IS obvious though, is that this silence and embarrassment must change'. Jon Snow, Charlene White and Jenny Eclair are also backing the campaign.
